E3 2015: Final Fantasy 7 remake rumored for PlayStation 4
A report has surfaced that Square Enix is working on a Final Fantasy 7 remake for PS4, to come in 2017.
Sony and Square Enix may be preparing for a big reveal later tonight, as a rumor has once again reemerged that Final Fantasy 7 is getting an actual, real, honest-to-Jenova remake.
Siliconera reports that the remake is set to be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. It will use a more modern art style, similar to the movie Advent Children. It's being made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the game, which originally released in 1997. So, if the rumor pans out, we'd expect to see it release in two years. The report also notes that this is distinct from the previously announced port.
The timing seems auspicious, as the industry prepares to see what Sony has up its sleeve for tonight's PlayStation conference. We'll see if they make it official in a few short hours.
